Products I've Hit Pan on...

In the beauty community, it is seen as a true accomplishment when you finally start to see the little sliver of a silver pan that lurks beneath a powder. When you have a large collection, hitting pan on a product is a true rarity. Sometimes I will put pressure on myself to use a product more so I can finally hit pan on it, but when it comes down to it, the products you usually hit pan on are your true favorites. These favorites are also referred to as, "can't live without" products or Holy Grail products. Let’s take a brief look at some products I have recently hit pan on.

First up...we have the infamous Naked palette!

As you can see the two colors on the far left have been used quite a bit! On the left, we have Virgin, which is my all time favorite highlight shade. It is the perfect shade for highlighting the browbone or popping into the inner tear duct for some much needed brightness. It is a sheer, white highlight shade, with a bit of a pink undertone to it. I think because this shade has a bit of pink to it, it really perks up green and brown eyes and makes them POP. I already have a back up of this! When I first hit pan on this shade, they did not make this color in a single shadow, so I considered purchasing an entirely new Naked palette for this shade alone! To be perfectly honest, I was kind of freaking out about it. Since then, Virgin has been released as an individual shadow. Beauty gurus everywhere rejoiced! I even wrote Urban Decay once to beg them to bring it out as an individual shade. I know a lot of Urban Decay junkies were very happy when it was released as an individual shade!

The next shade I hit pan on was Sin. Sin is a stunning champagne shade. It is one of those colors that seems to look different depending on the way the light catches it. It is the perfect mix of champagne, pink with just a hint of gold. It is a beautiful warm color. I have friends with brown eyes, blue eyes, hazel eyes and green eyes and this color looks amazing on everyone! When I first got the Naked palette, I thought Sin was a truly unique color and I still believe this is one of the true standouts in the Naked palette. My makeup collection has grown quite a bit since receiving the Naked palette as a gift, and although I do have some great dupes for Sin, nothing in my collection is as richly pigmented as Sin. The quality of this shadow is impeccable. After receiving the Naked palette, Sin became my go-to shade. Even when I have no time to do much in the way of eyeshadow, I will put Sin on with some mascara and suddenly my eyes look awake and bright! It is a wonderful shade. Oh, and just in case you were worried, I have a back up of this one too! As you may notice a trend is starting to arise...I am a makeup hoarder!

The next product I have hit pan on is an every day essential...the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Brunette/Dark Brown!
I definitely use the lighter shade more than the darker shade

I use the brunette/dark brown shade for my dark hair

In case you haven't heard, Anastasia Beverly Hills is a brand that specializes in making your eyebrows look as natural and perfect as possible. I purchased this brow duo on a whim when I was in Sephora one day, and I have been buying it ever since. This is the 2nd compact that I have used up and I have already repurchased it. I have not used anything as amazing as this, and I have tried a lot. The powder is formulated with just a bit of wax to help tame the brow hairs and keep them in place. I like that there are two shades in this. I use the lighter of the two shades to fill in the part of my eyebrow that is closest to the tear duct. I use the darker shade to fill in the tail end of my brow. I find that blending these two shades together creates the perfect brow color for me. I also like that this a totally customizable product. Sometimes I wear a bolder look that requires a stronger brow. On those days, I will add just a touch more of the darker powder. Sometimes, I am having a very casual day and I wear very minimal makeup. On those days, I will use more of the lighter brow powder, so I do not look too overdone. This brow powder is the perfect shade. It is not too warm of a color and does not turn red or orange as the day goes on. This brow powder also stays in place ALL DAY. Yes, it will even stay in place through a major workout at the gym. This stuff is that good. They recently changed the packaging of this product. From what I can tell, the formula has not changed. This brow duo comes in 5 different shades, for the lightest blondes to the darkest brunettes. I am a huge fan of this stuff and I will continue to repurchase it, as long as they keep making it. I forgot to mention, I use a brow brush to apply this (not pictured).

Next up, we have a Physician's Formula powder. I have had this so long, it no longer has the sticker on it, with the full name. It doesn't matter though, because I do not like it, and I would not recommend it.
This is just a basic translucent powder. I have had it a really long time, and I cannot wait to be done with it. This powder does absolutely nothing. My skin gets relatively oily on most days and I find that when I set my liquid foundation with this stuff, my skin is shiny within minutes. When I use this stuff, I find my skin gets even oilier than usual. I may as well skip the powder! This stuff also has a strange smell. All in all, I really dislike this product. I am trying to use it up, because I hate wasting things, but I would not recommend this...to anyone. I also think Physician's Formula is a total rip-off for a drugstore brand. My beloved Aveda powder is only $20, only a few dollars more than Physician's Formula and a million times better! If you're wanting to go the natural route, visit an Aveda store and get the Inner Light Mineral Dual Powder Foundation!

The next product I hit pan on is the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder!

My shade is Medium Beige

Serious pan action!

A well-loved compact makes me smile!

The Maybelline Dream Matte Powder is a product I have been hearing about for years. After trying the Physician's Formula powder, I shied away from any drugstore powders, for fear that they would be as awful as that one. I had tried my fair share of high-end setting powders, only to be disappointed and upset by all of the money I wasted! This powder changed my opinion on drugstore powders...for the BETTER! This powder is amazing. It is very finely milled. The lightweight texture of this powder guarantees that it never looks cakey on the skin. I use this powder to set my liquid foundation in the morning and I will bring it with me in my purse to touch up with throughout the day. It does not offer any additional coverage, but it does help reduce shine and will set your liquid foundation perfectly. I will definitely be repurchasing this.
